Roulette: How Outside Betting Goes

You must be acquainted with the betting option if you are interested in playing roulette in a land based casino or online. You need not worry for the betting process in roulette is not a complex one. Compared to casino craps, in the game of roulette you have ample time to think over where you will place your bet on the roulette wheel.

For a start you can place outside and inside bets on the roulette wheel. For outside bets, the least you can bet is the minimum bet stated at that roulette table. For the inside bet of the roulette wheel, the total bets should be above that roulette table's minimum bet. Outside and inside bets are the two main types of betting options in roulette. In this article, we will focus on outside bets.

The outside roulette bets are those bets that are outside the main 38 numbers, meaning you are not betting on a number or a set of numbers. You bet on the result as either even or odd; or bet that the ball will land on a red or black pocket.

You can bet whether the result is red or black. To do this, place your bet on the area in the roulette table where the words red or black are written. Many roulette players like this form of betting because it affords them 50% chance to a win. If this bet wins, an equal amount is paid back to you. If you bet $10, the win will also amount to $10.

Of the same category with the red or black bet is the odd or even bet. In this type of bet, roulette players bet whether the outcome is an even or odd number. Zero is not counted as an even number. To have this kind of bet, a player places casino chips on the square marked even or odd on the roulette table.

Another kind of outside bet is the columns betting option. The 38 number on the roulette wheel is divided into groups termed columns and you bet which of these columns the resulting number belongs to. The numbers belonging to the same column can be seen on the roulette table. On the end of each column is a box where you will place your bet. You will notice these boxes because the phrase 2 to 1 is printed on it. It means that if any of the number in the set shows up and you betted on it, you are paid 2 for 1. For example on a certain column you betted $1 and then the result included one of the numbers in your columns, you are paid $2 for that roulette win.

Still another betting option in roulette similar to columns is the dozen. The difference in columns with this type of betting is that the roulette player either bets on the first, second and third 12 numbers of the roulette wheel. With the dozen bet, the first 12 number are from 1-12, the second dozen includes 13- 24 and the last dozen refers to number 25-36. To go for this betting option, a player will place bet on the area on the roulette table labeled first 12, second 12 or third 12.

So next time you go for roulette, try dozen or columns for an outside bet. Or if not you can bet on whether the result is odd or even or if the ball lands on the red or black pocket. The options really for outside bet are numerous, just take your pick.
